Well after all the rain we had we genuinely thought we'd be washed out....but how wrong we were. And for those that made the effort they had a great day with no rain!!
Andy 'Boom Boom' Dawson was our host for the day as Captain of the society, but alas was unable to play due a pulled ligament in his wallet....Cheers Andy.
Anyhow on with the action with a substantial field and some new faces taking on the tricky greens at Ashton GC.
There were some great scores on the day with plenty of players in the thirties scoring well as was the case in Division 3 with newcomer Keiran Roberts performing admirably with 32 well earned points. But the spoils of the division go to the ever Youthful looking Catherine Stewart, out scoring the majority of her male counterparts with a magnificent 39 points on her well overdue return to the society.
Division 2 was filled with the usual suspects all vying for the very coverted sheriff's cup points with Paul Hesford, fresh from his efforts at the 'said' tournament posting an admiral 31 points. But the spoils in the division went to the ever steady Gary 'John Wayne' Parker. Now Gary is not a bandit in reference to Big John but the aptly known 'Quiet Man'.Gary produced some sparkling golf on the day to produce a fabulous 39 points.
But the real heavyweight clash of the day was in Division 1, where Simon 'how far!' Whitehead and on his home patch Paul, Morgy' Morgan did battle. Both players playing some of the best golf this season and producing sensational scores in the process with Simon posting a benchmark score of 39 points and seemingly untouchable until Morgy stepped up,with a huge smile on his face, which in all fairness to Paul is quite rare unless he is playing well produced some moments of magic to claim the prize overall with 41 points!Truly fantastic golf on the day by all who played and i'm certain that the Handicap Secretary Dave 'Where is he?' Harrison will be scrutinising the scores and delivering the hard word to a few!
The Nearest the pins on the day were valiantly claimed by Paul Hesford on the 14th and Jed 'Ive signed the Card' Howorth on the 18th!
There was only ONE '2' on the day which won by Stuart Roebuck
An absolutely brilliant day with great weather too,Thanks to all who turned up.
See you all at our next Event at Whitefield Golf Club (Chiefs Trophy') on 15th July
